WOW. Just WOW! We are absolutely bursting with pride as we share the incredible news that our amazing Ellie has officially been crowned the Greater Manchester High Sheriff Young Citizen of the Year 2025 🥹👏🏼

Among hundreds (if not thousands!) of young people nominated across the region, Ellie was selected as one of only 10 official winners and the sole winner representing Tameside. An absolutely phenomenal achievement.

💫 A Recognition So Deeply Deserved

The awards, presented by Eamonn O’Neal OBE DL, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, celebrate exceptional young people making a real difference through community action and care for others.

Ellie’s win is rooted in her unwavering commitment to others especially her voluntary work, where she has become an irreplaceable part of the team. Whether helping with event coordination, admin, safety marshalling, or simply being a kind, welcoming presence, Ellie gives 100% of herself to everything she does without ever expecting anything in return ❤

She’s also a young carer, supporting her mum with everyday tasks, emotional support, and care, with remarkable strength and selflessness.

At just 16, Ellie’s already left a lasting mark on our community. Through her efforts especially supporting our mental health and suicide prevention events.-, she helps ensure everyone feels safe, included, and seen.

And when a local business was short-staffed? She stepped in to help. No hesitation, just action. That’s Ellie. 💪🏼

Ellie’s journey over the past year has been nothing short of inspiring. From a quiet, shy young woman to a confident, proactive, and hilarious force of nature, she’s found her voice and uses it to lift others up, without even realising the huge impact that she has.

She’s even wants to pass her driving test asap, not for freedom, not for fun, but so she can support her mum more. That’s the kind of young woman Ellie is. Selfless. Strong. Steady. And deeply, deeply inspiring.
